We are pleased to announce The Burlington’s Sheridan & Casper Divisions by Alfred J.J. Holck. This is Al’s final book and covers the CB&Q Lines in Wyoming and Montana.

Starting in Alliance, Nebraska where Al’s The Hub of The Burlington ended, we follow Al’s look along the line through Sheridan to Billings, Montana where we loop south to Cody and Casper. The book does not cover C&S operations.

Working from Al’s manuscript, photographs, timetables, maps, notes and research material, I am preparing a layout similar to what I did with Bud’s Quincy Branch book. This is a daunting task subject to my interpretation of what Al wanted in print. Material has been added including Sanborn maps, used with permission from the Sanborn Library; additional photos from various photographers, libraries, museums and archives; and personal anecdotes and ephemera round out the book. No page or photo count yet as material is still coming in.

Which brings up the subject of contributors. Like the Quincy Branch book, there will never be another CB&Q Book covering Wyoming and Montana as in-depth as Al’s book. If you think you have material that should be included in telling the story of life along the CB&Q in Wyoming and Montana, please contact me off list.

The retail price is $85.00 plus shipping. Pre-Publication price is $70.00 plus $5.00 Media Mail domestic shipping. Priority Mail is available for $12.00. International shipping with mandatory insurance is at actual cost.

By agreement with the Holck family, all royalties from the sales of the book will be used to perpetuate the long term care of Al’s collection. Signed, numbered editions will not be offered at this time.

This is the only Pre-Publication Offer. It ends 12/31/2016. I use the Pre-Publication Offer to determine interest and ultimately, the final press run. There is no publisher offering the exceptional value per-page that we do. Our shrinking market is taking its toll and we must be very careful about costs and press run.

Delivery is scheduled for mid-June. I mistakenly quoted our deadline for the printer in my announcement the other day. Too much eggnog...

I can send a PayPal invoices and will take credit orders by phone. I am happy to call on my dime if you send an email with your number and convenient time to call.

Previews will not be posted on our website until the proofs are approved.

We have several more great books in the hopper. Al’s book jumped to the top due to the extraordinary delay in receipt of final contributor material for the formerly scheduled title.

Thank-you.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Regards,

Randy
