I just inserted mine into the body of the message. Attaching should work equally well.

Thanks!

All-

I am not sure how to add a photo to the Yahoo Groups page.

Some of the photos I have show a marked contrast between the Belt Rail and Battens (highly polished) and Cab Front Panels (dead flat).   The oft-published photos of the Twins running side by side and in Union Station during the Aurora-Chicago “Twins” publicity run show this very well.

I also have a photo of the Sam Houston Zephyr which shows the contrast with the Battans.

Looking at the photos I have of 9901, the panels under the cab windows seem to have the same sheen as the flat sheet metal on the sides. Here’s a portion of an Otto Perry photo of 9901, as the Sam Houston Zephyr.

Thanks!

All-

The thread on the Aluminum twin hopper brought to mind a question I’ve had for a long time and I wonder if anyone has an explanation…

…..the inauguration photos and even later photos suggest that the 9901 and 9902 Twin Zephyr power units had a dull (or at least less-polished) panel under the cab windows than the 9900, 9903 and subsequent shovel nose units.

Has anyone else noticed this and come up with a reason why this was so and did it last the life of the units?
