Nelson, Actually the Q ran ABA and ABBA sets of F's almost until the merger! For example, I just ran across this ABBA lashup in mid-1968: http://condrenrails.com/CB&Q/F7.html There is a photo in Spoor's CB&Q Volume 2 page 68 of an F3A (124-D) F3B set sitting at Savanna in June 1966. So, we do need B-units. These are just the photos I have logged for the C&I, and I just ran across the ABBA going into Galesburg this week. It really caught my eye because it was an ABBA set and very late in the 60's.
