Harold, any update on the second
edition of Smokey Edward's book?
http://www.biblio.com/book/duffys-bluff-story-wyoming-railway-company/d/653213892
I got my copy at Sheridan Stationary. Anyone interested might give
them a call and see if they still have it. (307) 674-8080.
The only copy I found online is in the UK. It appears to be the
first addition.
Is the guy in Gillette the one who wound up with Smokey's
collection?

Harold - Being far, far away in South Alabama, I'm
not familiar with the person in Gillette, WY, who has
the Wyoming Railway collection. In fact, the last time I
was in Wyoming would've been in the early 1950s when Dad
was trainmaster at Casper. Earlier, Dad had earlier been
transportation inspector at Casper and had photographed
the rotary plow trains during the Great Blizzard of
1949.
With collections of old locomotive photographs, such
photographs were often printed in multiples and widely
exchanged with other collectors. I would suppose that
might be the story of the Wyoming Railway No. 103 image
that turned-up on the Internet. Such Wyoming Railway
photographs must be very rare as this one is only the
fourth I've ever seen, all being from the Internet.
Some photograph collectors I've met over my nearly 60
years as a rail fan have been generous with sharing,
some have not. Plus, the Internet has muddied things in
that so many photographs were traded around years ago
that in many instances duplicates abound today on line.
Personally, I've always been happy to share as I enjoy
helping others learn about the Q. Best Regards - Louis

Ken - Much appreciate you identifying
Wyoming Railway No. 103 as ex-Q No. 1162.
Isn't this a wonderful Group when it comes
to identifying old photographs!
Thanks for letting me know off-List
that the Wyoming Railway had three ex-Q
2-6-0s, No. 103; ex-1162; No. 104,
ex-1151; and No. 105, ex-1175. This is new
to me.
Does anyone have images of No. 104 and
No. 105? Since I have the image of No.
103, I'd like to see what the other two
looked like while operating on the plains
of Wyoming. Best Regards - Louis

Louis,
At the meet in Billings in 2013
Bill Tulley gave a clinic on the
Wyoming railroad. He identified 103 as
ex-Q 1162 which would be an H-2 built
by Pittsburg in 1898.

Group - Can anyone tell
me what Class H locomotive
this is?
The 2-6-0 is numbered
103, it's lettered for the
Wyoming Railway, the
location is UCross, WY
and the date is August 23,
1947. This locomotive looks
to me to be a Class H-3.
The "hulk" of Class H-2
No. 1175 that was Wyoming
Railway No. 105 is on
display in Buffalo, WY. I'm
unable to find any
information on other Q
locomotives sold to the
Wyoming Railway.
The Corbin book roster
doesn't show any Class H
locomotive sales to the
Wyoming Railway. I'd
appreciate knowing what Q
2-6-0 become WRy 103. Best
Regards - Louis
