[CBQ] Re: Student Excursion Trains to Denver late 50's or early 60's

Not exactly in the excursion train category, but in 1955 the Iowa State 
College (yes, it was an A&M college in those pre-university days) 
Marching Band journeyed to Boulder CO for a football game against 
Colorado.  We traveled by bus to Omaha where we boarded the DZ for 
Denver.  The upperclassmen got seats in one of the Vista Domes while us 
freshmen go seats in one of those modernized coaches.  Too bad, so sad, 
right?  Not so, for also boarding in Omaha was a tour group from a 
girl's school.  Most of us made friends with them and when the 
upperclassmen had enough beers and retired from the dome, we took over.  
I was awfully naive, but stayed up all night holding hands (really) with 
a nice young lady and watching those searchlight signals turning from 
red to green and of course, going through the car wash in Denver.
