Bob and all-

Recently Bill Denton has come up with a very effective Stainless Steel finish for CB&Q and other equipment which is much easier to apply and maintain than the Alclad paint.  Perhaps he can chime in and describe his approach.

In his Kalmbach book, Passenger Equipment and Operation, Andy Sperandeo recommends a system pioneered by Keith Kohlmann, which is based on the use of Alclad II Chrome lacquer. You undercoat the car with gloss black enamel, then apply the Alclad, then clear-coat with something like Testor's Metalizer Clear Finish. You can view Kohlmann's original article in the July, 2003 MR, which you can view on-line (for a fee) on the MR website.
