Problem with Alclad is that is has to be applied with an airbrush which the OP says he doesn't have. You could use almost the same method of gloss black and try the Testor's metalizer for SS, I believe it is available in a rattle can.
One other issue is no matter what you use, it probably will not match the earlier cars.

In his Kalmbach book, Passenger Equipment and Operation, Andy Sperandeo recommends a system pioneered by Keith Kohlmann, which is based on the use of Alclad II Chrome lacquer. You undercoat the car with gloss black enamel, then apply the Alclad, then clear-coat
