WHAT local passenger run could it be? Non-suburban
passenger trains -- and some suburban trains, too -- carried at least one
head-end car. And in the late '40s-early '50s when this was likely
taken, R-5s certainly were not being used in passenger service. I
would bet this was taken after the two NW2s had received ATC equipment and
so it was only needed for the run to Sterling when one of the diesels was
out of service.
