The 578, as seen here, was the Denver coachyard and depot switcher.  Thes G-10s used for depot switching were just depot in fresh paint, and their use seemed to be mostly in the late 1930s and through the 1940s until replaced by diesels.  But with inauguration of the Anniversary Fleet at the end of 1929 and beginning of 1930, REALLY "beautified" G-3s featuring chromed cylinder head covers, striped running boards, driver tires and rods were used at several de[pots.  Their use apparently lasted only until the mid- to late 1930s, though.

Group - Continuing, attached is an image of Class G-10 No. 578 shown in an undated view at an unidentified depot. I wonder if the G-10 locomotives were favored for this type of assignment?

Does anyone else have images of Q depot switch engines or other details to share? Best Regards - Louis
