The caption on this photo reads "CBQ EB OREGON TURN COMING OFF MT.MORRIS BRANCH OREGON IL will tie on rest of train and head back to Aurora with expedited mail car on rear" So is it likely that the actual Mt. Morris job left these cars here for 226 to tie onto after coming from Eola, or might 226 have actually worked the Mt. Morris job? It was my understanding that GP7's did take over the Mt. Morris job at some time from the normal switchers (NW2's or SW's), but that the Oregon Turn from Eola did not actually work the Mt. Morris job.

I thought normal operation would be that the local Oregon unit (a switcher and later on a GP7) would work Mt. Morris, leave its cars for Eola on the branch line lead, then tie up on either the Carnation or downtown lead. The Eola turn with a GP7 would come in, leave inbound cars on the southern sidings, then pick up the local cars (e.g. loaded sand from Unimen) for Eola from the southern sidings and the cars from Mt. Morris from off the branch line lead, and then head back to Eola. Repeat next day, etc...
