Duncan,

No, they aren’t right. I’ve scratchbuilt three Havelock cars, two BA-19A and one BA-19 in shadowline. I used Train Station Products 732-427 as the best match for Q 3-N and 3-N1 trucks.

And to address Jonathan’s comment about truck drawings in Blick’s passenger car diagram book, the truck sideframes are not drawn. Only the wheelbase is shown with the wheels drawn as circles where the wheels are located. What I’m asking for is a cross-reference to Q passenger car truck classes like the one for Q freight car trucks, and nobody seems to have such a document.

I'd be interested in whether any of the Walthers GSC trucks are right for the Havelock cars.

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, Nelson. Bill Glick's book of passenger car diagrams has good, large-scale drawings of all(?) the Q's passenger trucks, including all those you list.

Since I haven't looked into this with much care, I'll be most interested in what other modelers say about the available choices.

Jonathan

The Q used their own identifiers for trucks. I have the freight car cross-index chart, but I don’t have one for passenger trucks. After some research, I need the following passenger car trucks (or close approximations) for my passenger car fleet:

3D, 5C, 5G, 5H, 5K, 5L, and 5M

Is there a cross-index for Q numbers and Pullman numbers? Do any of the Walthers  Pullman trucks come close to any of the Q trucks? Are there other commercial truck options for these Q trucks?

I’ve tried photo matching, but many of the passenger car photos don’t show enough truck detail to be helpful.
