Speaking of ore trains, can anyone confirm the years that CB&Q handed some Granite City-bound off to Illinois Terminal (via P&PU) at East Peoria? Most sources seem to agree that this was in the years 1966-1968. Ore trains ceased using ITC because that carrier had shifted to IC's "Green Diamond" line from Springfield south in 1968 and the IC didn’t want ore trains on it. David P. Jordan Dunlap, Illinois >Up until about the mid-60's, ore trains to Granite City did not run in "unit >trains" but in "blocks" of cars in the regular trains from Galesburg via the >>Beardstown Division into Granite City.
