Concerning those hoses that had to be hooked up between motors,  many  
times the head brakeman did the actual hook up because the portly  
engineer couldn't fit between the motors.  One engineer would always  
buy my dinner if I hooked up hoses for him.  He taught me to use the  
acronym SIAM when hooking the hoses.  Sand, Independent, Actuating ,  
and Main Reservoir.  Archie
