Happy to Louis,  Left RW Brown who hired out in 1916,  FL Wiehe who hired out 12/15/09  andJP Brooks who hired out 12/14/09.  As I recall the two 09 men were retiring, I will check on this.  47 years of service each.  Of course 50 year men were quite comman back in the day.  Mr Wiehe was the switch foreman and the other two were helpers.  On a switch crew the foreman carried the list  and gave the hand signals and the helpers either played the field(which meant he lined the switches for the cars being kicked)  and the other was the pin puller who as the name notes stayed on the cut and pulled the pin.  As soon as he let a car go, he was looking for the next cut which was chalked on the end of the car by the yard clerks.  As soon as an inbound train was yarded, the number dummy was bleeding the air and chalking the destinations.  For instance, AX was for St Louis, EAX was for East St Louis, Gales was for Galesbur g, La was for Louisiana, Mo. etc.

Maybe some of the items can be seen, better than nothing.  Local
newspaper always ran a picture of old timers retiring.  year was
1956.  Archie
