Richard Hendrickson was a true "mensch" in that he delighted in sharing his knowledge and passion. My initial contacts with him were a long time ago, but he remembered me and my interests years later. His death following a fall is a cautionary to all of us, and especially to those who are up around four score years to be extremely careful around ladders. Life is fragile -
handle it with care! Art Peterson On Wednesday, July 2, 2014 11:21 AM, "'Dave Lotz' Dave_Lotz@bellsouth.net [CBQ]" <CBQ@yahoogroups.com> wrote: Many of you may have already heard the sad news that freight car guru
and one of prototype modeling's leading lights, Richard Hendrickson, died
several days ago as a result of a fall. Richard was in his early eighties, but
he had a youthful spirit and his sudden passing comes as a complete shock to us
all. A mentor to many of us, he was a trusted resource for model-making
researchers. The results of Richard’s
work will be a part of model railroading for decades to come. Richard was principally a freight car
consultant, but his interests extended well beyond that. He knew who was doing
what in the prototype modeling field, and where the resources were. His vast
knowledge and willingness to share will be sorely missed. My condolences and best wishes to
Sandra and his family.
