List,
Would the last through traffic to use the old line have been the remaining BN
pass. trains in April 1971?
As late as 1988, I have shots of a high-nose geep switching around the former
depot, but surely by thenjust a stub of old line was left.

I am trying to get a handle on the timeline of events involving the Q thru
La Crosse WI. At one time the Q had a line that went thru downtown La
Crosse; was this the original line, or was it built at the same time as the
freight bypass east of town? If the freight bypass was built after the
line thru downtown, when did this happen? And last but not least, when was
the
  line thru downtown abandoned?
