I too remember seeing the ad featuring the E7 tauting the synthetic fuel test. As for the site where the fuel was produced, it has changed dramatically. Hercules is now called Missouri Chemical works. 90% of the old plant is gone, recently demolished. There are still lots of tracks up in the complex from back in CB&Q days but only three see much use. MCW only uses one track for tank cars at the west end at a facility that makes a black tar like synthethic substance. The nitric acid/ ammonium nitrate are is owned by Dyno Nobel and ships acid and nitrate daily. Have made many trips into this plant on BNSF local #835. It seemed like "Gothem City" when the old plant was mothballed before they tore it down. But the areas that are left are booming.

Regards
John Jacobs
