Ray, Since the SP did not have a line into Denver in those days, I suspect that they returned the locomotives to the Q via the FW&D at some common interchange point in Texas. If they had been returned to Denver, they would have had to have been shipped by the D&RGW, the AT&SF or the UP at Cheyenne. Another question would be would they have been returned live?
