Remember how narrow that bridge was? .....and how the timber beams rattled as
you drove over the bridge? . I was always torn between wanting to keep my
eyes on the road traffic to avoid an accident, and wanting to watch the
railroad cars drifting down from the hump. Good memory. - Don Z.

I participated in this activity quite often during my 4.5 year tenure at UNL.
..HOWEVER...it seemed like quite often a "friendly" Lincoln Policeman or deputy
sheriff came along and "politely invited" you to "move along.

You and me both Randy. When ever we went to Lincoln from York to see my moms
Aunt and Uncle this was usually the first stop for me and dad. Mom and sis
learned to just put up with it.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but the bridge in 447
(Lincoln yard) is the old Coddington Avenue bridge that went over the
yard just east of the hump. As a kid in the 1960's I always bugged
my parents to stop the car there if we went that way on a Sunday
afternoon drive.
