The Silver Pendulum ran on trains 27 and 26 (Omaha- Kansas "City for many years during the 1950's Also IIRC it finished it's "career' running between Lincoln and St. Joe, MO behind Motorcar 9772 as trains 89-42 and 90-41 I think there is a photo of it in one of Al Hoclk's Color Pictorial books behind the above mentioned motorcar. I have seen photos of this car on the GN, but only distant views. Any idea where, when or what train this was on? Thanks so much for sending it. Hol To: CBQ@yahoogroups.com From: krmiddle@charter.net Date: Sun, 16 Feb 2014 08:55:55 -0500 Subject: [CBQ] Pendulum Car I recently acquired a copy of Al Holck's Burlington Route Color Pictorial Volume 1 and noticed a photo of Burlington's pendulum car on page 46. I don't recall ever having seen a color photo of the car before, but in black and white photos it always looked pretty silver to me. This photo, and the caption, seem to indicate that it was "silver-gray." Does anyone have any suggestions as to what an appropriate paint might be for a model of this car? Thanks for any help you can provide. Ken Middleton Portage, MI krmiddle@charter.net |
