The more I look at this picture the less certain I am that it is Sheridan. The profile of the hills in the background look more like Gillette. I'd have to go stand by the west end of the yard lead at Sheridan to check out the hills contour there but I am leaning towards this photo being Gillette not Sheridan. The track configurations were very similar at the west ends of Sheridan and Gillette. Both had the "short crossover" with a spring switch on the main and its protecting signal. Both had #1 track extended west for a longer "siding" and switching lead. Both had the stock yards just past the short crossover. For now I think I'll change my mind and proclaim picture #2 as being west Gillette (and yes it is still printed backwards).
