Jim and Tom-
Since the N Scale Community already knows that I've been involved on this project since Day One, it isn't a state secret
The Korea Brass project seems to be vapor ware. Hornby has been working with GE on the project and no one has been able to find out about Korea Brass's involvement including industry insiders connected to KB
The Hornby designers have gone all out on the project, tooling phases and road specific details that cover all the owners of the units and listening to the North American staff input.....and volunteering to add details beyond what you'd hope for.
Hornby Rivarossi is hardly a "new" manufacturer and is so active in state of the art European models that they have their own monthly magazine that is bigger than MR in scope and size

Gentlemen,
I talked with the reps at Trainfest. They appeared to very invested in the project with literature and knowledge although I was hoping to see some test shots of the model. They did mention that a BRHS member is consulting on the project. I'm not sure the name is public knowledge so I won't share and will leave it up to them whether or not to chime in. I will say that I highly respect the member involved and they've helped bring some great models to our layout.

OK, so now we know the Rivarossi units are at least on the Walthers website for pre-order. But I think something of interest to everyone is who will have the most prototypical unit - Rivarossi or Korea-Brass. Or in this day and age is it pretty much the same detail and prototype quality for both? Has the BRHS worked with either or both of these manufacturers to ensure prototype authenticity? Spending almost $300 MSRP on locomotives with sound is the norm these days, but with sight-unseen from a new manufacturer, you definitely want the best quality/detail/authenticity for your money.

It’s been nearly six months now since there were two (count them, two!) announcements of forthcoming U25C’s in HO scale. Peculiar about both of these announcements was that they were simply that, just announcements. Since these announcements, the projects seem to have largely disappeared. Nowhere have I seen any retailers taking reservations for either manufacturer’s products, test shots showing tooling, estimated shipping dates, etc. It is such commonplace these days in our hobby that pre-orders must be met before anything is produced, so the lack of ability to make reservations causes me pause. Did anyone go to Trainfest and see these manufacturers and talk to them about the project? Does anyone have any type of information that we can hang our hats on that some of us may actually be running U25C’s in plastic on our railroads in six months or a year from now?
