I live on Long Island and get email updates from the LIRR. This morning I got these and a bunch of other messages: The 4:55AM train from Port Jefferson due Hunterspoint Ave at 6:37AM is being delayed at Carle Place [at around 6 am] due to equipment problems.
[That train was then canceled due to equipment problems at Carle Place.] Customers will be accommodated by the 6:25 AM from Hicksville due Penn at 7:11 AM, and the 6:19 from Hicksville due Penn at 6:58 AM. [The passengers could then transfer at Jamaica for trains to Hunterspoint Ave] [8:18am] A rescue engine is assisting in moving the disabled train at Carle Place. My question is... Is it that difficult to get a rescue engine to the scene 15-20 minutes east of Jamaica, a major transfer point on the railroad? This disabled train caused 15-30 minute delays all across the North Shore branches during rush hour this morning. Bill Scott __._,_.___
