that's a possibility re Rapp's kin.  A good friend of mine who is in our Lincoln Railfan's Club worked with Billl at the Nebraska Health department and knew him pretty well...I'll see what he might be able to do in the way of digging up something.

I have nothing specific, but I do like to look at old TT's and sometimes "something will remind me of something else"  My late wife used to say..."'Everything reminds you of something"...others have said they "can attest to that"...It's amazing what a little spark will do.  I think it was Mark Twain who said..."I continue to be amazed at how much information can be obtained with such a small investment of fact".

Anyhow I'll see what I can find out.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Pete

Pete:

I doubt very seriously that Bill Rapp printed more than a thousand copies of either monograph, as they were not exactly best seller topics, and they have long been out of print.  I've never seen any of his monographs offered for sale on eBay; there just aren't very many of them out there.  I have both of them, but as they're copyrighted I'm not at liberty to reproduce them in their entirety, though I would be willing to copy a page or two if there's something specific someone's looking for.  Perhaps if Rapp's heirs can be located permission could be obtained to reprint both of the monographs.  Do you or anyone else in the Lincoln area know any of Rapp's kin?

A catalog of the CB&Q and B&MR timetables in the collection of the Nebraska State Historical Society was publsihed in 1984 by J-B Publishing Co. of Crete, Neb., as Railway History Monograph, Volume XIII, Nos. 3 & 4.  It was compiled by Bill Rapp, the owner of J-B Publishing and the active force behind the Railway Station Historical Society at that time.

In 1981 Bill published Kent Hannah's Compendium of Burlington Lines Employee Timetables as Volume X, Nos. 1-4 of the Railway History Monograph.  This was essentially a catalog of the employee timetables in the collection of the Newberry Library.

These are by far the two largest public collections of Burlington ETTs and are invaluable research tools.

For the information of all hands:

This may be common knowledge, but the Nebraska StateHistorical Society has a very large collection of Burlington records, including a (presumably complete) set of B&MR and CB&Q ETTs from 1884-1939, in their Val Kuska collection.

Rupert.Sorry I wasn't able to to find the info myself, but hopefully someone with ETT access has already gotten back to you.

I’m trying to find out when the turntable at Belmont, Nebraska (on the Alliance to Edgemont line) was removed. It was there according to a 1911 ETT.  Can anyone help pin down the removal date?

Thanks
