Track three in the plant was setup for inbound parts but I can't say for sure what came in on it. Track 2 led to fuel >storage area. "Tractor tread plate" = You mean track shoes? I can imagine this plant required lots of tires. Aurora (Montgomery) produced front end (and crawler) loaders at startup, introduced the 944 wheel "traxcavator" (wheel loader) in late 1959 http://www.cat.com/50years-wheel-loaders, and also the first hydraulic excavator (225) in 1972.
