That would be a question for the Steam Era Freight Car List.   There are experts on that list that would know.   My Railroad Prototype Cyclopedias are packed; I think one or more of the issues dealt with ACF covered hoppers and might have the answer.  I am ccing this to the STMFC list and will post any info I get to this list.

The Burlington Bulletin on covered hoppers indicates that in the later 1940s the CB&Q leased a number of 2 bay covered hoppers from Shippers Car Line.  It then goes on to say that the Q continued to produce its own cars and maybe returned the leased cars.  Has anyone ever found further information which would eliminate that "maybe"?
