Keep in mind that anything is possible. Can you imagine a CZ observation car inside the Kennecott open pit copper mine? At Saturday's BRHS meeting in Batavia, a photo was shown with one of the CZ's sleeper - lounge observation cars in the Kennecott pit pulled by a KCC electric locomotive. The event occurred, I believe, in1967 on a special excursion arranged by Elliott Donnelley. I wouldn't have believed it, but the several photos taken in the pit certainly confirmed it. 

So, a CZ observation car on the TCZ would be much more probable.

Sounds like great experiences. I have seen photos of an ex-KCZ at the head of the TCZ running forward, as you describe. 

Backward dome parlors on the front of the TCZ perhaps saved the Q charges for wye-ing the train in the Twin Cities?
