I was commuting from Belmont.  The morning of the wreck I showed up to catch the train and found Thrall All-Door cars on top of the depot.  As I recall the trains were running and we did get to Chicago

They dug up a lot of merchandise from the wreck when they were excavating for the new underpass at Belmont. The construction crews were baffled why there were parts of boats buried in the ground.
