NORM:

I guess you'd call it a pit.   It was a deep depression.   It was not concrete lined, but the turn table itself was a heavy girder or bridge that did drop down at least two feet or more.   Everything was built just like those that would have had concrete walls around the outside, but dirt.

I have several views, including one you took.
