Before the advent of cab car usage, wouldn’t it be likely that short mid-day trains would be wyed rather than the power taken off, turned on the turntable at the Zephyr Pit, and reassembled?

Since the power was at the headhouse end of the platforms, the power car didn’t contribute much more pollution, which compared to the steam locomotives still in use at the time wasn’t much and probably not a matter of concern.
