It was the “current fashion” at one point in time…..and depots were built to the style current at the time of their construction.

Doug's photo of Batavia IA brought an interesting question to mind: Why were some depot roofs built with an "upward" curve at the bottom? Seems to me that it would make construction more difficult and expensive.
