That practice seemed to be pretty much universal over the entire railroad industry...Phil Weibler and I may (when we get our Round Tuits) do an article on the idiosyncracies of old railroad correspondence.
Also it always seemed necessary to add the phrase..."For your information" as though the recipient wouldn't get the information from the letter if he didn't know that he was getting information
