Here's a bulletin issued at 6 p.m., Dec. 6, 1952, by the superintendent of the Wymore Division:
"Effective Monday Dec. 8 present train service on Dewitt-Holdrege line and Fairmont branches [will] be discontinued and following service instead, powered by SD-7 diesels.
"Mixed train leave Wymore 830AM Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays for Dewitt, Strang, Hebron, Fairmont.
"Mixed train leave Fairmont 830AM Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays for Helvey, Tobias, Dewitt, Wymore.
"Mixed train leave Fairmont 830AM Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays for Holdrege via Geneva.
"Mixed train leave Holdrege 7AM Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays for Fairmont with side trip to Nelson.
"Cars for Swanton, Western, Tobias, Ohiowa, Strang, Bruning, Belvidere, Hebron move via Dewitt.
"Cars for Burress, Milligan, Daykin, Helvey move via Lincoln and Fairmont.
"Cars for Geneva, Shickley, Ong, Edgar, Nelson, Deweese, Lawrence, Rosemont, Bladen, Campbell, Upland, Hildreth, Wilcox, Sacramento move via Lincoln and Fairmont."
The original assignments of the 400-411 group of SD7s are listed on an undated late 1952 bulletin. The 400 does not appear because it was initially assigned to Chicago for testing before being sent on to Nebraska for regular service:
401, 402, 404, 407, 408, 409 - Omaha Div. Pool 85-86-70-73 Ferry-Lincoln via Pacific Junction
405 - #92 and #93 Lincoln to Ferry local
403, 406, 410 - Wymore Div. Pool Wymore-Fairmont branches
411 - yet to be delivered
Obviously, it was the 403, 406 and 410 that were to cover the assignments listed in the bulletin above.
