Photos of 6318 in 1929 and 1936 are in BB #35, p. 124, by B. Corbin.   Photo of 6318 in 1944 is in Locomotive Cyclopedia, Vol 1, p. 79, Jay Williams Collection, and also in Burlington Route Steam, p. 71.   6319 photo in 1955 is in Locomotive Cyclopedia, Vol 1, p. 79, by C.T. Felstead.   6316 photo in 1929 is in BB #35, p. 123, Craig Alcorn Collection.   6320 photo in 1950 is in Steam Locomotives of the Burlington Route, p. 132, by Al Holck.    6321 in 1938 is in Locomotive Cyclopedia, Vol 1, p. 77, W. Raia Collection.   I also found another photo of 6316 in 1953 in BB #35, p. 82, by Richard R. Wallin, 6318 in 1928 in BB #35, p. 70, Hol Wagner Collection, and 6317 in 1955 in Burlington Route Steam Finale, p. 8, by W.S. Kuba.   All of these photos show M4s and M4As from the original order of 12 with Worthington FWHs.

As my research material is packed I would appreciate it if anyone with ready access to the information would give me a short history of the rebuilding of the M4 2-10-4s from drag freight locos to manifest-able machines.  Dates, original / final assignments, etc.. and what changes were made?
