RE: Jim Ozment. On another day, the same club held one of it's summer meetings
at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden. Bob Richardson gave a talk and
program that focused on his nearly 50 years of personal Colorado rail and stamp
collecting history, especially the collecting of Colorado rpo cancellations.
The talk was quite moving as Bob discussed some things none of us knew about
him or his past, including his family back in Ohio and trials and tribulations
of his stewardship of the museum. The high (or low) point of the presentation
happened when Bob stated that "Now in my 80's, i am in wonderful health which I
can definitely attribute to just two things, and they are having known many
good people around me and the relaxation and enjoyment given to me by
collecting and enjoying stamps since i was a kid. In fact, I believe anyone who
can relax while enjoying a hobby like stamp collecting adds many, many years to
his life." At this point it was very quiet, and Ozment, in a very loud stage
whisper said to me " It better add at least 20 years to mine, that is the only
reason I collect the dam* things." At that point, it was generally agreed by
the other members that someone be designated to sit on the beer cooler to deny
access to the contents by some of the other, more vocal members present.
