On November 1, 1958 Rock Island canceled their contract
with Pullman for the operation of all sleeping cars except
for those assigned to the Golden State, the Twin Star Rocket
and the Zephyr Rocket. On July 15, 1959 the cancellation
was extended to the operation of cars on the Twin Star Rocket.
Thereafter, the sleeping cars on Rock Island trains were "company operated",
except for the Zephyr Rocket and the Golden State which remained
operated by the Pullman Company.
After November 1, 1958, of Rock Island's 7 Golden series of 6-4-6 cars
only Golden Banner and Golden Chariot were available for service on the Zephyr Rocket.
All the others had been withdrawn from lease to Pullman and were unable to
protect the service.
I am looking for Zephyr Rocket consists or other documentation
from November 1, 1958 until the Line was terminated on
November 1, 1963 for Pullman Line 3047, St. Louis-Minneapolis, on the Zephyr Rocket.
