A friend of mine and I stumbled across this back in the 80's and were mighty puzzled since there was no sign of a railroad due to the passage of time.

I just took these on an outing with my wife in May 2012.  A lady at a nearby restaurant said the community uses the depot for local events.
Browning is just north of Beardstown along the Illinois River. It part of the old line that went through Astoria. The line was relocated because it was flood prone from what I remember.  
I would appreciate any more information anyone can add to this.
