Don't hold your breath. I know that a very nice cosmetic job was done a few years back but as far as running under steam you'd better have several million to throw around.

Some time ago, I heard a delicious rumor that S-4a #4000 was in the process of being restored to active duty. The last time I saw her, probably 3 or 4 years ago, she was reposing in her park in LaCrosse, but some parts (headlight comes to mind) were missing and some sort of restoration seemed to be taking place. Is this wishful thinking on my part, or is there some basis of fact here? The thought of her galloping up the Mississippi under full steam is enticing, to say the least...
