Chickens and other fowl and their byproducts were big business on some railroads. The little St. Louis & Hannibal (interchanged with the Q in Hannibal, MO) had several poultry plants on line. The R.S. Buchannan Co. had plants in Perry and Center, MO that shipped poultry back East as did Kuhne Bros. in Troy, MO. Easterners liked our Missouri chickens.
