Hi Bill amd Bill....
I rode the 1960 Illini trip, also at 16 years old. At the time, i lived in
Chicago. I had to take my Sophomore year finals early so that I could get out
of Niles West in time to go.
I've got both the 33-1/3 and CD versions of "Sunday Only", and sometimes I play
that startup at Burlington on the way to work :>) The other half of the CD,
"Steam Railroading Under Thundering Skies" is where I picked up my
"whippoorwill" style that I used at Wisconsin Dells on the R&GN Ry.
The other day, I was watching a video of the 1959 trip on RFDTV....though as I
recall only the narrow gauge part....and I see that the '59 trip didn't go to
Farmington like we did in '60.
Best,
Mike Decker
