When the slogans were first painted on the hoppers, it was EVERYWHERE WEST on both sides as the railroad was not yet know as the "Way of the Zephyrs". I'm not an "old guy". Well, it depends on who talk to. Right, Pete!

If you have the Mike Spoor book CB&Q Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment, its on page 77. This is a HT5a. The car on the bottom of the same page is a HT5b. Can't say every class was like that. I think the War Emergency hoppers were the same way. The Proto/Walthers cars are pretty nice and are that way too. Maybe some of the old Q guys have a better explaination. Best advice I can give is look for pics of the particular car/class you are modeling. Good Luck! Rory __._,_.___
