While the CB&Q did indeed use lower quadrant semaphores, the FW&D until well after its mergerin BN was almost entirely dark -- unsignaled -- territory, as was the C&S.  The only semaphores used by the Denver were train order signals on depots , and they were indeed lower quadrant.  See the attached images.

I am modeling a branch on the old FW&D. I am going on my memory here, and of course being older, it is not what it used to be. I can't remember the color of the boards on the old signals. I think they were red board, but I can't remember for sure. Does anyone have an old rule book or are there already scans of the old signals?
