Yes, the picture is at Beardstown. I can't find the picture right now but I'll keep looking. I saw Geeps pulling 47 & 48 myself. I called retired Q Beardstown Division engineer Bob Shelton asked about this. He told me that a steam generator equipped Geep was, for several years, kept at Beardstown for "protection power" for 47 & 48. He recalled that he worked off of the extra board as a fireman on 47 & 48 with Geep power. Just because you didn't see them does not make it untrue.

I think different equipment may have been used from St Louis to Galesburg. I am thinking it may have been a motor train part of the way. And then became a standard train further north which may have had the yellow cars.

They also used the ex C&NW cars (still painted yellow) near the end. 47 & 48 came off in the early 60's.

I only remember passenger units on those trains and they ran behind my parents house while I was growing up in Canton, Illinois.
I think it was marked wrong but I may also be wrong. Could this picture be Farmington, Iowa? It was served by a mixed train in 1960.
