Check out the Flying Yankee.  It has been a from the ground up restoration.  So there is still hope for the Mark Twain just needs the M&M's.  If museums can rebuild steam engines and trolley and interurban cars it can be done.

Thanks for the clarification, Bryan. I took "Mid-America Railcar
Leasing" off the business card of the fellow (Justin Sobeck) who
hosted me for the MTZ visit. My own confusion about "Missouri" (I
drove down from the Macomb meet to see 9903 and 9908) extended to
overshooting and ending up over the river in St. Louis. I guess it
has stuck with me! :)

I'm attaching a Google Maps screenshot with the latitude and
longitude. 9903 is still just where I saw it. (Attachments are
coming in very useful--thank you, Dave!)
