Archie,
While my earliest responsibilities with the BN date from 1971, most of my early days were in the service area and were intermittent at that. I did not take on sales responsibility until 1983 and continued in that capacity until 1996. I can't recall the name of the VP Purchasing in 1983, but later, it was Norm Doerr who started his career on the NP.

Bill, Did you happen to know Bob Richards who was a VP in Purchasing? He started with the Q and retired before the Frisco merger. He sold the coach Blackhawk which was his personal coach and also purchased the first airplane the Burlington used. Bob is about 96 and lives here in Hannibal. he is a gold mine of info on the Q and the BN merger. He is nearly blind but has something that magnifies text so he can still read. He donated his little black bible that every official carried to our archives. In it was the run down on the cost of the 1956 Denver Zephyr etc. Archie PS He was raised in Aurora and hired by his Sunday School teacher George A Goerner who was General Storekeeper on the Q. Bob served as Storekeeper in Hannibal in the 40s and 50s.
