Great list for the period, but you might want to ad a couple more. These would include Union Pacific, Chicago & Northwestern, Western Pacific, Katy, Missouri Pacific, Rock Island (it didn't declare bankruptcy until March 31, 1980) and Canadian National (unless you meant Canadian National instead of Canadian Northern). In addition, the US Steel roads still existed including Bessemer & Lake Erie and the Duluth Missabe & Iron Range.
