At the BRHS meet, Phil Weibler showed a photograph of a board beside the track, and asked if anyone knew what it was. I think it may have been a station flag. Old employee timetables show that the two locals between Burlington and Quincy would stop on flag at stations, for example Carthage Lake, Homan, and Bay View. And station flags are identified on old CB&Q R/W maps, at two locations just north of Quincy, at Homan at MP 66.93 and Bay View at MP 68.25. These locations were likely un-manned, so it was probably up to the passenger to set the station flag to stop the train. Glen Haug ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
