So are we talking mineral red or brown? Gerald To: CBQ@yahoogroups.com From: markg99051@aol.com Date: Wed, 27 Apr 2011 21:47:40 -0400 Subject: Re: [CBQ] Micro Trains Tank Car The prototype for this tank car can be seen on page 121 of Michael Spoor's CB&Q Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment (Morning Sun). Spoor indicates the cars were used to transport fuel oil in company service. He says the mineral red scheme was unique to this car, but based on Leo's comments, there must have been more than one. -----Original Message----- From: qutlx1 <qutlx1@aol.com> To: cbq <cbq@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Wed, Apr 27, 2011 7:26 pm Subject: [CBQ] Micro Trains Tank Car I don't know, for sure, what they were used for while in service, but my info is that Zephyr #62 will have a couple nice photos of Q tanks in brown headed for the torch. I took the photos in 1968/69 and wrote the article.Based on the leaks looks like heavy lube oils to me. Check your mailbox,I am.
