The prototype for this tank car can be seen on page 121 of Michael Spoor's CB&Q
Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment (Morning Sun). Spoor indicates
the cars were used to transport fuel oil in company service. He says the
mineral red scheme was unique to this car, but based on Leo's comments, there
must have been more than one.

I don't know,for sure, what they were used for while in service, but my
info is that Zephyr #62 will have a couple nice photos of Q tanks in brown
headed for the torch. I took the photos in 1968/69 and wrote the
article.Based on the leaks looks like heavy lube oils to me.
