and always keep in mind that Charles Perkins was married to Forbe's* sister so Boston money was always readily available. The tycoons of that age always had connections (at least the successful ones). It's a good read in Overton's "Burlington Route"! *founder of Forbes magazine, stock brokerage, investment banker etc - friend of Carnegie & J. P. Morgan whereas Harriman at the UP was tied into the Rockefellers.
